The Beginner Sewing Course at Make It & Take It Sewing Studio is designed for absolute beginners who want to learn to sew properly from the start. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or feel unsure about your skills, this course gently builds your confidence step-by-step in a supportive and creative studio environment.
Over four weekly classes, you’ll learn essential sewing techniques while creating real projects you can proudly take home.
This course runs monthly, allowing new beginners to join regularly.

Thread and control your machine confidently
Sew straight lines, curves and corners
Understand basic seam finishes
Work with simple patterns
Cut fabric correctly
Assemble garments and projects

What You'll Make
Throughout the course you’ll complete 2 beginner-friendly projects:
A small cosmetic bag or shopping bag (1st project) and
A simple pant or skirt (2nd project)B
You’ll also gain the confidence to continue sewing independently at home.
Each project is designed to teach a new skill while producing something useful and wearable.
Weekly Course Breakdown
WEEK 1
Sewing Machine Basics
Learn your machine, threading, tension, safety and basic stitching. Practice controlling the machine and fabric around corners and curves.
WEEK 2
Essential Sewing Techniques
Basic fabric knowledge and cutting techniques. Learn seams, hems and neat finishing methods by making your first item to BRAG about!
WEEK 3
Patterns & Construction
How to measure and determine your pattern size. How to make basic pattern adjustments. Fabric layout, cutting and assembling 2nd item.
WEEK 4
Professional Finishing Skills
Learn garment construction techniques, improve fit and finishes. Complete your final garment with confidence and say "I MADE IT!".
